We've done a LOT on the Vorderer Racing Camaros over the years. The original 69 has evolved like you wouldn't believe but Bob, Chuck, Junior and the entire Vorderer team have stepped up their racing to an entirely new level. We thought it would be interesting to share some of their images of the new race car with you. 1320s around the country are in for a serious beating this year!

Riddle us this Batman...who's on board at FD Customs giving us a hand with his Ridler-winning fab skillz??? Bob Thrash, that's who! Bob has been slicing and chopping and welding and grinding and throwin' down all manner of metal mayhem on our 50 Delivery. After slamming the lid he stretched the door openings to handle two door hardtop doors. A lean of a B-pillar here and whack of an A-pillar there and we have some seriously slick egress panels! She ain't here to haul plywood panels no more. She's more inclined to shuttle the owner's posterior quite rapidly on an Art Morrison chassis spun around with nasty LS power. We're really moving on this bad boy. Keep coming back for more.
IN THRASH WE TRUST!

BACK IN BLACK!
July 2011

This summer, once you go black...well, you get the picture. We've wrapped up three black beauties so far this summer  and none of them have anything to do with Tyra Banks. First, we have Denise's "Nickey" Camaro. New spoiler, hood, touch up, exhaust...It's her interpretation of what Nickey might have done with this one. Next, Michael has finished his S10 and it is SLICK. No parts are going in the bed of this sucker. Finally, the 69 race Camaro is black and back by popular demand. Here is a sneak peak at the updates. Take a look in the FD Rides section for more!

We also knocked out a coupla 'Stangs too. Ol' Yeller found it's way home and Butch's Blue 5-LEETER got sprayed. Butch is gonna put this puzzle together on his own. Check out the in-progress section for more...

DELTA FORCE HAS NOW HIT THE STREETS!

The 1972 Olds 88 behemoth has head off into the wild blue yonder. This ocean-liner sized cruiser has been a pleasure to bring back to life for a very special customer that has a very special relationship with this car because of his father. As big as this baby is, keep in mind that this is the 88...the 98 was actually the top of the line big brother to this monster! We're thrilled that he is pleased with his refreshed ride and I'm sure the oil companies are thrilled to see it back on the road!

FD CUSTOMS. History and philosophy…

I’ve been building and restoring cars since the age of 11. My father had a love for high performance cars in his blood and he brought me up in an environment that exposed me to the most righteous vehicles to come out of Detroit over the last 40 years. He was a talented man that taught me about true craftsmanship. Early on, I acquired his fearlessness of turning a wrench or picking up a spray gun. He embodied the “JUST DO IT” spirit of car-building.

Most often we found ourselves restoring some of the most remarkable Chevrolets ever built. Bloomington Gold Corvettes, L78 Chevelles, big block Monte Carlos, ‘57 Chevys, 454 4spd convertible Chevelles, Pace Car Camaros, and more manual tranny Chevy musclecars and convertibles that we can remember! We knew back then that these vehicles were special, but an enthusiast didn’t need to take out a second mortgage on a house to bring an old musclecar back to life. We took pride on our attention to detail and our ability to take the most dilapidated piece of forlorn steel with four wheels and turn it into a show-winning, numbers-matching, restored gem.

As the years and cars passed, I lost my father but continued the tradition bringing the cars nobody else would touch, back to life. While I still took immense satisfaction in restoring a vehicle to its factory-fresh state, I began to do more creative work to the street cars my friends owned. Whether it was a subtle body modification, custom paint, fabrication, improving suspension performance or stance…it didn’t matter. I began to steer away from the world of date-coded alternator brushes and factory chalk marks on the insides of heater boxes. My passion had evolved beyond the constraints of the restoration world.

FD Customs feels that Detroit “got it right” straight out of the box, but there is ALWAYS room for improvement. Fuel injection and tubular suspension for your ’64 Skylark? Absolutely. 4 wheel disc brakes and 5 speed transmission for your ’69 Grand Prix? Of course. Full-on roll caged, aluminum motor, tubbed 7 second ’69 Camaro with show winning paint. We wouldn’t have it any other way!

From frame-off restifications to show-quality, NHRA approved quarter mile terrors; FD Customs will build the vehicle that you’ve always coveted. We can execute your wishes and bring ideas to the table you never dreamed of. Our in-house designer can help you visualize the possibilities and help craft exactly what you’re looking for.
